Energizing the World: ANS 2025 Summer Meeting Unites Global Nuclear Leaders in Chicago
The American Nuclear Society (ANS) concluded its 2025 Annual Conference this week at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, marking the largest turnout in over a decade. With the theme “Energizing the World,” the event brought together scientists, engineers, policymakers, and students to explore the future of nuclear energy through innovation, collaboration, and global impact
The conference featured dynamic plenary sessions, technical tracks, and student-focused events like RadFest at Argonne National Laboratory. Keynote speakers included Matthew Marzano (U.S. NRC Commissioner), Nicole Holmes (GE Vernova), and Tammy Ma (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory), who addressed the evolving role of nuclear in energy security, climate resilience, and advanced technologies
“This year’s meeting was more than a conference—it was a catalyst. We saw firsthand how the nuclear community is not just keeping pace with global energy demands but leading the charge. From AI to advanced fuels, our members are shaping a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future.”
—Dr. H.M. “Hash” Hashemian, President, American Nuclear Society
In addition to the two major plenary sessions the conference also featured over 100 technical presentations across AI, advanced fuels, policy, and education. Attendees included scientists, engineers, policymakers, and students from across the globe.
