Codi Ferree is a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee–Knoxville with a BS in Materials Science and Engineering. At UTK she served as an undergraduate research assistant in two different departments. In the Materials Science and Engineering Department her research group focused on the innovation of biomaterials using metal alloys of differing aluminum concentrations to conduct cell studies. In other experiments, her group observed the behavior of smooth muscle tissue cells. During her two-years as a research assistant in the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering Department, her time was split between the Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility (FCMF) and the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Her research group focused on comprehensive R&D in prototyping of advanced fiber reinforced plastics and composites.
Codi grew up in Miami and is a Miami Dolphins football fan. Now that she lives in East Tennessee, she enjoys hiking in the Smoky Mountains. She is a big Vols fan and attended every home football during her four years of undergrad. She has one dog (chow chow/pit mix) named Bear and two cats (black cat and tabby) named Theodore and KeyKey.
