Edward McGinnis was appointed the principal deputy assistant secretary in the Office of Nuclear Energy, effective immediately. He has been the deputy assistant secretary for international nuclear energy policy and cooperation in DOE since 2007, and also worked in the Office of Global Material Security.
The Office of Nuclear Energy is primarily responsible for nuclear energy systems research, maintaining the government’s nuclear energy research infrastructure and addressing nation’s spent nuclear fuel and high-level nuclear waste management programs.
