Employee Spotlight: John Lanager - 5 Years
This month, AMS proudly celebrates John Lanager’s five-year anniversary with the company. As an EMC Engineer, John plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical and electronic equipment within the electromagnetic environments of nuclear power plants. His work—both in the lab and on-site—verifies that new and existing plant systems function without interference. In addition to his engineering responsibilities, John serves as a Quality Assurance Assistant (QAA), helping to bridge the EMC group with AMS’ Quality Assurance department to uphold strict QA standards and maintain the group’s measurement uncertainty budgets. Before joining AMS, John was an Engineering Manager at Applied Research Laboratories of South Florida, where he oversaw product safety, reliability, and efficiency testing for a wide range of consumer and industrial products.
Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, John’s career path has been as diverse as it is impressive — beginning as a classical guitar major, followed by an associate degree in automotive repair, and later shifting to electrical engineering at Penn State. Since moving to Knoxville in 2020, John has enjoyed being closer to family and continuing his passions outside of work, which include playing guitar (a lifelong pursuit of more than 45 years), listening to music, and watching college football. He’s also deeply committed to giving back, sponsoring two girls in Colombia through Unbound.org to help provide essentials like food, housing, and education. AMS is proud to have John on our team and congratulates him on five years of dedicated service and excellence.
