Brent D. Shumaker, Senior Engineering Manager at Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation (AMS), was recently elected as chairman of the Human Factors, Instrumentation and Controls Division (HFICD) of the American Nuclear Society (ANS). Mr. Shumaker is a senior manager at AMS, an award-winning technology consulting firm with headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Shumaker has been with AMS nearly 18 years.
The HFICD has been a part of ANS since 1979, and is devoted to the human component of nuclear technology, along with the underlying instrumentation, control, and human-machine interface technologies that support the safe operation of nuclear facilities. The HFICD focuses on the information processing, control, and human system interaction aspects of nuclear systems.
